Presented in the form of a url, this work reveals a slow parade of photos of elephant trinkets. Throug coding the images are randomly ordered from a growing database (of currently 300 images), meaning that no visitor will ever see the same parade twice. It currently takes 30min of viewing before an elephant is repeated, creating an illusion of infinite parade/conveyor belt.
In glossy high resolution these forgotten flea market bargains gain the status of high commodities and charm us in a hypnotic manner. We take the time to appreciate details of their textures and singularity of their design in manners that we would never do in the physical world.
Consciously very open and radically simple in it’s form, this work doesn’t attempt to force any interpretation in the viewer. Nonetheless it raises questions of value, mass production, diversity, our relationship to nature and technological addictions.
