Simon Wald-Lasowski is a freelance photographer and art director. He makes colorful, fun, twisted work by use of bricolage, word play and ‘cliché bending’. Lighthearted at first sight, his images often reveal a certain depth on second inspection. His approach is always very personal, which blur the boundaries between autonomous and commissioned work.

I love working under short deadlines, something which I often did for the Amsterdam Weekly. You get a call on Friday, the image has to be ready by Monday, it's printed on Tuesday and all over town on Wednesday. If you make something great, people might hang it on their wall, if not it's in the paper bin after a few days, and a new chance arises again!

This story was about a bike trip between Amsterdam and Paris. Unfortunately, I didn't come up with an idea that would incorporate biking, but just combined two strong symbols of each culture into some weird character.
