Simon Wald-Lasowski makes colorful, fun, twisted work by use of bricolage, word play and ‘cliché bending’. Lighthearted at first sight, his images often reveal a certain depth on second inspection. His approach is always very personal, which blur the boundaries between autonomous and commissioned work.

Client: Volkskrant Magazine

The Volkskrant Magazine asked me to illustrate an article about Breasts, Boobies, Tits, Jugs, Knockers, Melons, etc...

The theme of the article was wide and ranged from the origins of breasts, to their sexual, aesthetic and nurturing functions.
Finding an original take on the theme, a subject so widely visually explored, was no easy task. But I came up with this 'mother earth' solution. A latex breast mounted on a globe structure. In the tradition of the photographer using himself as a model, I photographed myself drinking from the source.
