Simon Wald-Lasowski makes colorful, fun, twisted work by use of bricolage, word play and ‘cliché bending’. Lighthearted at first sight, his images often reveal a certain depth on second inspection. His approach is always very personal, which blur the boundaries between autonomous and commissioned work.

Soirée Graphique is a yearly exhibition/auction in Switzerland organised by the advertising agency Komet.

The idea of the exhibition is to team up a designer and a photographer in a 'remix' game. I was given this B/W poster by Ross Paxman (see small image on the right) and asked to reinterpret it. Adding a bit of Vasarely in the mix I created this 2D/3D trompe-l'oeil of some tripped out chess piece!
